Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical manifestations and characteristics of pharyngeal pain in patients with SARS-COV-2 Omicron variant strain. Methods The clinical data of 142 patients infected with omicron variant strain were collected from April 18, 2022 to May 30, 2022, in the first ward, First Department of Infection,Shuguang Hospital affiliated to Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine. The clinical characteristics were analyzed according to the grading score of pharyngeal pain, the occurrence time of pharyngeal pain, the duration of pharyngeal pain, the psychological status caused by pharyngeal pain, and the duration of pharyngeal discomfort symptoms after the disappearance of pharyngeal pain. Results Among 142 patients infected with omicron variant strain, 111 cases (78.2%) were mild, 27 cases (19.0%) were common, and 4 cases (2.8%) were severe. There were no significant differences in the occurrence time and grade of pharyngeal pain among all groups (P>0.05). The duration of pharyngeal pain and the duration of pharyngeal discomfort symptoms after the disappearance of pharyngeal pain in the severe group were significantly prolonged, and there were significant differences compared with the mild group and the ordinary group (P<0.05). The duration of pharyngeal pain in the ordinary group was the shortest, and there were significant differences compared with the mild group (P<0.05). The psychological status caused by pain was more serious in the mild group, and the difference was statistically significant compared with the other two groups (P<0.05).Conclusions The pharyngeal pain of patients infected with omicron variant strain is obvious, and affects the quality of life, nutritional diet and disease rehabilitation of patients during the onset, so clinicians should not ignore the treatment and improvement of pharyngeal pain in patients infected with Omicron variant strain.
