Abstract:Objective To investigate the history, clinical manifestation, importance of auxiliary examination, and selection of surgical methods of "complex foreign bodies" in otolaryngology head and neck surgery. Methods Clinical data of four cases of complicated foreign bodies were reported , The first one:Esophageal foreign body with a history of up to 5 years: glass sheet,removed through esophagoscope under general anesthesia; The second one : a foreign body in the cheek area caused by trauma: a chopstick, cut open and removed along the original foramen under general anesthesia; The third one : a foreign body wandering outside the esophagus with a history of up to 2 years: jujube stones, Perform a cervical incision under general anesthesia, remove the foreign object in the tracheoesophageal sulcus; The forth one :an embedded foreign body in the lower pharynx: a fish bone.For the first time, no foreign body was found under general anesthesia through self-retaining laryngoscope, and the surgery failed. The second time ,it was removed under local anesthesia . Results All 4 cases of foreign bodies were successfully removed after clinical diagnosis, and the patients recovered well without complications. Conclusions For patients with foreign bodies, it is necessary to patiently and carefully inquire about their medical history, assistant examinations are essential, especially imaging examinations, and formulate a detailed surgical plan is the key to ensuring the success of the operation.
