Abstract:Objective To analyze the effects of hearing rehabilitation and the changes of life quality after cochlear implantation(CI) inin elderly patients diagnosed with age-related hearing loss . Methods 31 patients diagnosed with age-related hearing loss were included .The hearing aid threshold and the speech perception was measured in preoperation ,6monthsand 12 months wearing cochlear implant syetem. The nijmegen cochlear implant questionnaire(NCIQ) was adpoted for Life quality assessment in preoperation and 12 months postoperation.Result There were 31 patients diagnosed with age-related hearing loss , in which 18 were male and 13 female, with an average age of 67.2 ± 5.6 years. The hearing thresholds (dBHL)was 62.55 ± 3.69, 46.58 ± 5.14, 38.68 ± 4.26 in preoperation ,6monthsand 12 months wearing cochlear implant syetem ,and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). The speech perception was measured in quite condition. The speech perception for single syllable perception (%) was 6.55 ± 5.81, 54.77 ± 8.90, 68.52 ± 7.21 in preoperation ,6monthsand 12 months wearing cochlear implant syetem, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01).The speech perception for disyllabes (%) was in preoperation ,6monthsand 12 months wearing cochlear implant syetem, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). There was a statistically significant difference about the speech perception for sentence ,the speech perception for sentence(%) was 28.00±10.58、68.52±7.78、77.61±8.59 in preoperation ,6monthsand 12 months wearing cochlear implant syetem (P <0.01). There was a statistically significant difference about NCIQ in preoperation and 12 months wearing cochlear implant syetem, the result of NCIQ was 35.90±5.80、65.16±8.18 respectively(P <0.05). Conclusion The cochlear implantation can improve speech perception and the quality of life in patients diagnosed with age-related hearing loss. For the elderly patients with severe, profound, bilateral sensorineural hearing loss,we could choose cochlear implantation,if the patients can’t benifit from the hearing aid.
