Abstract:Objective To evaluate the immediate and 6 months effects of non-invasive correction treatment for neonatal congenital auricle deformity (CAD), and discuss the treatment opportunity.Methods A total of 138 cases (187 ears) with CAD treated in Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Henan Provincial People’s Hospital from March 2021 to May 2023 were selected. Among them, age ≤7 days (69 cases, 98 ears) was group 1, 8~42 d (27 cases, 32 ears) was group 2, and 43~90 d (42 cases, 57 ears) was group 3. All the patients received non-invasive corrective treatment. The immediate effective rate, 6 months effective rate (after treatment), complication rate and treatment time were compared among all groups. The correlations between the age of initial treatment, type of CAD and treatment time, the curative effect and the occurrence of complications were analyzed.Results Of all the 187 ears, the immediate effective rate was 92.5% (173/187), and the 6 months effective rate was 88.8% (166/187). The immediate effective rates were as follows: Group 1 > Group 2 > Group 3, the treatment durations were Group 1 < Group 2 < Group 3, while the complication rates were Group 1 < Group 2 < Group 3. And the differences were all statistically significant (P=0.000, P=0.039, P=0.030). The duration of treatment, the immediate effective rate, the complication rate were correlated with the type of CAD and the age of initial treatment (all P<0.05).Conclusions The non-invasive correction of CAD in newborns has significant immediate and 6 months effects. The initial age of treatment should be controlled within 7 days. The initial age of treatment and the type of CAD are the factors that affect the clinical effect, the occurrence of complications and duration of treatment.
